“Nowhere Land” by Photographer Jiatong Lu

A series shedding light on Lyme disease patients by photographer Jiatong Lu. The Lyme community in the United States has long been invisible to the public despite CDC reports that indicate 476,000 people are diagnosed and treated annually. Besides coping with debilitating symptoms, Lyme patients often have to deal with the inability to work or attend school, isolation from family and friends, trauma from medical abuse, and tremendous financial pressure.

“Countless chronic Lyme patients are dismissed and blamed, their pain invalidated, and their suffering is deemed as merely in their heads. Through intimate narratives, I aim to capture the silent suffering and emotional isolation endured by those living with this invisible disease.”
