Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Declares Cruise Journey Across All Five Great Lakes
For enthusiasts of architecture who adore the open seas, a unique cruise themed around Frank Lloyd Wright is now available, traversing North America’s Great Lakes. Victory Cruise Lines has joined forces with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation’s Taliesin Institute to provide an insightful tour of the architect’s masterpieces in Chicago, Detroit, and Muskegon.
This initiative will be included in Victory Cruise Line’s 2025 itineraries, which primarily center on 10-day voyages through the Great Lakes and along the eastern shore of Canada. The excursions will embark on Victory I and Victory II, the company’s two recently refurbished ships with a capacity of 190 passengers, originally constructed three decades ago.
Travelers will depart from Chicago’s Navy Pier and conclude the tour in Toronto, stopping at various renowned Frank Lloyd Wright sites along the route. Those participating in the adventure can visit Unity Temple in Chicago, his residence and workshop in Oak Park, along with the Smith House in Detroit and the Meyer May House in Grand Rapids. Additionally, in Chicago, you can tour the Robie House, a prominent representation of Wright’s Prairie style, and The Rookery Building, an office tower from 1888 that featured a lobby redesigned by Wright in 1905.
The Taliesin Institute will provide onboard lectures, allowing guests to delve further into the life and influence of the legendary American architect. “Frank Lloyd Wright has left an extraordinary legacy of architectural wonders throughout the Great Lakes, including two locations recognized on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Our guests will gain a greater appreciation for his vision through his creations while gaining knowledge along the journey,” remarks John Waggoner, chairman and founder of Victory Cruise Lines. “We recognize that education is essential for Victory Cruise Lines guests, and this collaboration with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation offers chances to engage in onboard enrichment initiatives developed and presented by the Taliesin Institute.”
