The venue is designed as a Mid-Century tribute to air travel, featuring an interior that captures the allure of 1960s aviation. Combined with a creative cocktail selection, the 90-minute excursion offers a novel way to relish your drinks.
You’ll instantly feel as if you’ve entered a luxury airplane once you’ve “boarded” Carry On. Crafted in partnership with interior designer Peter Bowden, the ambiance is warm and opulent and suggests exclusive air travel—no commercial flights in sight. Wooden accents, leather seating, and chrome details adorn the space, and every seating section is equipped with windows that replicate the full aerial experience. It’s designed to reminisce the newfound liberty that air travel introduced in the mid-20th century.
“In the 1960s, air travel was an integral part of the thrill associated with reaching a new locale,” shares Teddy Myers, founder of Pretty Decent Concepts, which developed Carry On. “Travelers dressed up for flights, and the act of boarding an aircraft felt luxurious, enticing, and inherently exclusive.”
Eugene Kim, editor-in-chief at My Modern Met, was fortunate enough to experience this unique offering. “Carry On excels at immersing you in an airplane atmosphere while crafting a distinctive environment,” he remarks. “Upon our arrival, we were given a boarding pass as we stepped into an elegant cocktail lounge resembling the interior of a plane. It’s quite surreal to experience what it was like to fly in the 60s, where the crew was impeccably dressed, and the service and cocktails were exceptional. The airplane windows featured video screens that simulated the external landscape, with clouds and vibrant skies, and the ‘flight’ even simulated turbulence. From beginning to end, the entire experience was meticulously planned and flawlessly executed.”
Additionally, Carry On boasts a creative drink menu that complements its breathtaking decor. The hour-and-a-half experience takes you on a “journey” to premier cocktail locations across the globe. Beverages are inspired by their departure and arrival points, and as you approach your destination, the menu evolves accordingly.
