Baker Creates Buttercream Cupcake Floral Arrangements
Receiving a bunch of flowers is always pleasant, but what if that bunch was entirely composed of edible goodies? Sydney-based baker Macey Nemer, the inventive force behind The Baked Bouquet, creates breathtaking cupcake bouquets for birthdays, weddings, and other special events. The delectable arrangements are so exquisite, they nearly seem too lovely to consume.
Nemer has always possessed a love for both cuisine and artistry, and she aspired to craft something that united the two. Even without any official baking education, she chose to pursue her passion and establish a cupcake venture, all while raising three children under three. “I was determined to make it work,” she shares. “I devoted countless hours to researching and experimenting with various cupcake recipes, frosting methods, and decorating techniques.”
Once the concept emerged, Nemer began refining her abilities during the pandemic. “With the pandemic compelling us all to remain at home, I found myself with extra time and the chance to delve into my passion for baking,” she remembers. “I acquired a few piping tips to practice cupcake decorating and became enamored with the process. It proved extremely therapeutic during such a stressful and chaotic time. From that point, I kept practicing and experimenting until I developed the standing cupcake bouquets you see now.”
After numerous hours of practice and experimentation, Nemer perfected her floral cupcakes and started creating her distinctive standing cupcake bouquets. Her business quickly surged, leading to some demanding yet fulfilling projects.
One highlight was crafting a special bouquet for the Downton Abbey film premiere in Sydney. Another unforgettable moment was designing a colossal cupcake bouquet featuring over 150 cupcakes for an engagement party.
“The giant cupcake bouquet appeared absolutely magnificent, and it was incredibly gratifying to witness the delighted couple’s reaction upon seeing it,” Nemer states. “And to top it all, the bouquet garnered over 8 million views on Instagram, which was an extraordinary and thrilling experience.”
Nemer aspires to motivate other mothers to chase their creative ambitions. “As a mother, it can be tempting to set our own dreams aside for our children’s sake,” she expresses. “However, it’s essential to remember that we are capable of accomplishing anything we aim for. Yes, it may be challenging, but with resolve and persistence, we can turn our aspirations into reality.” The self-taught baker intends to eventually pass on her skills and passion to aspiring bakers through online classes and in-person workshops.
“I’m eager about the future of Baked Bouquet and all the opportunities that await,” she confesses. “With dedication and hard work, I believe I can elevate my business to new heights and continue to bring smiles to people with my delightful and creative baked treats.”
