San Francisco Art Book Fair Expands Programming Offerings in Latest Return

For the third consecutive year, the Minnesota Street Project Foundation will host the San Francisco Art Book Fair (SFABF), scheduled for July 10–13, 2025, in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. Recognized as one of the most eagerly anticipated free, large-scale arts events in the Bay Area, SFABF highlights art publishing and print culture. The event gathers independent publishers, artists, designers, collectors, and enthusiasts from across the globe, aiming to sustain the creation and distribution of printed works, while promoting engagement and dialogue between the Bay Area’s unique history and global publishing communities.

This year, SFABF will feature over 150 independent exhibitors, 30 of which are international participants traveling from countries such as Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and Nicaragua. Attendees can explore various printed materials including artists’ books, zines, monographs, art catalogues, and periodicals.

Enhancing the fair’s offerings, the Minnesota Street Project Foundation is expanding its programming this year. Visitors can explore new programs at the Screening Gallery and Exhibition Warehouse at 1201 Minnesota Street. Highlights include the West Coast debut of the 2024 Paris Photo – Aperture PhotoBook Awards and a series of curated screenings by San Francisco Cinematheque.

In addition to exploring the exhibits, SFABF25 visitors can attend book launches, signings, and special projects, curated by David Senior, Director of Library at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). These events are presented by exhibitors and local arts organizations such as Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, Letterform Archive, San Francisco Center for the Book, / (Slash), the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, and others.

Additionally, fundraiser editions by two Bay Area artists will be available for purchase: a screen print by Sarah Hotchkiss in collaboration with Poppy Press, and limited unique multiples by Sean McFarland produced with Lightsource SF.
