Electric Forest 2025: Michigan Woodlands Transform into a Magical Interactive Adventure

This previous weekend, the Michigan forest was alive with art, enchantment, and sound. The yearly Electric Forest festival took command of the woods in Rothbury for an engaging experience that attracted thousands who united as a Forest Family. With a backdrop of EDM legends, live performances, and everything in between, festival attendees enjoyed an immersive adventure that fused art, music, and culture.

My Modern Met was present to experience it all, with Editor-in-Chief Eugene Kim amazed by what he encountered. “The experience at Electric Forest exceeded any expectations I had upon arrival,” he remarks. “It was an explosive mix of exceptional music, art, and culture all blended together. I conversed with so many individuals who perceived Electric Forest as their sanctuary away from home. You could sense the uplifting vibes permeating the forest, centered on a celebration of creativity.”

Musical highlights encompassed the legendary French electronic duo Justice and the indie trio Khruangbin. With headlining performances framing the weekend, these acts showcased Electric Forest’s diverse musical offerings. At the immersive Honeycomb Stage, Arc de Soleil, fronted by composer and producer Daniel Kadawatha, alongside Dombresky, spread good vibes with their performances.

However, Electric Forest is not solely about music; it also serves as a platform for artistic expression aimed at nourishing the spirit. My Modern Met favorite Daniel Popper made a significant impact with one of his signature installations, which transformed in the evening through projection mapping by Jasper Mosher. His was among many remarkable displays that sparked the imaginations of festival goers, who reveled in this open-air gallery throughout the weekend.

Special add-on experiences complemented the event, creating opportunities to connect with the Forest Family over cuisine, beverages, and wellness activities. From drag brunches to sacred sound baths, there was much to discover. Our highlights included the Food Tour, featuring exclusive delicacies from the festival’s culinary partners, and the annual Buena Vida tequila tasting. More than just a tasting, it’s also a competition, showcasing bartenders’ inventive talents to craft the ultimate cocktail.

After savoring the music, art, and fare, we took a moment to relax with a much-needed forest yoga class. This was just one of numerous thoughtfully organized wellness activities that catered to the needs of all festival participants. A sober support session, a grief workshop, and an energy cleansing session were just a few of the varied offerings designed to honor everyone’s paths.

For Kim, his inaugural Electric Forest experience was unforgettable. “The first forest experience is one to be cherished, but I encountered many others who return year after year because this place is unique. The level of dedication, thoughtfulness, and love that goes into this music festival is unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed.”
