Takashi Murakami Partners Once More With CASETiFY for a Groundbreaking Collection
In the late 16th century, the Japanese artist Kanō Eitoku gave rise to a new notion: kaikai kiki. This term can approximately be interpreted as “dangerous yet attractive,” aptly encapsulating Eitoku’s exquisite, distinctive, and occasionally otherworldly style. For the acclaimed pop artist Takashi Murakami, kaikai kiki represented the ideal analogy for creative endeavors, leading the phrase to become the moniker not only for his KAIKAI KIKI collective but also for two of his twin characters. Now, in his second partnership with CASETiFY, Murakami’s iconic KAIKAI and KIKI beings are in the spotlight.
Building on the success of the MR. DOB range, launched in April, Takashi Murakami x CASETiFY: KAIKAI and KIKI encompasses a similarly vibrant variety of tech accessories. As the name implies, KAIKAI and KIKI are at the forefront of the collection, with KAIKAI’s “endearing innocence” and KIKI’s “playful mischief” interactively complementing each other across the products. The collection’s phone cases, for example, showcase KAIKAI and KIKI with radiant smiles, both framed by Murakami’s hallmark floral backdrops. Significantly, these cases feature CASETiFY’s first-ever pink camera ring and can be customized to meet customer desires.
Mirroring the MR. DOB launch earlier this spring, this latest collection also includes blind boxes filled with KAIKAI and KIKI danglers, alongside whimsical phone charms and exclusive trading card holders adorned with MR. DOB ears. CASETiFY’s travel lineup has been enhanced too, with the introduction of a pink carry-on and the inaugural 29-inch Bounce Check-In Trunk, while the same inventive style for AirPod cases has reemerged. Here, similarly to MR. DOB, KAIKAI and KIKI are reimagined as three-dimensional, tiny figurines, providing a chic yet functional method for storing earbuds.
“I’m thrilled that the next chapter of this collection has come to life on the contemporary canvas of CASETiFY,” Murakami expressed. “Among my characters, KAIKAI and KIKI are the sole twin figures, representing charm, mischief, and a wide array of emotions.”
From July 17 to 19, the KAIKAI and KIKI collection will be displayed at the COMPLEX CASETiFY pop-up in Los Angeles, allowing fans an exclusive look into the new product range. Although the latest collection in the Takashi Murakami x CASETiFY collaboration officially debuts on July 17, priority access will be granted on July 16 for those who join the waitlist.
