Pop-Up Installation Effortlessly Merges Botanical Patterns with Urban Features
For one day exclusively, blooms transformed into art within a Williamsburg townhouse, all thanks to Crosby Studios and Flover. The New York City and Paris-based Crosby Studios, led by Henry Nuriev, is renowned for its industrial style. By collaborating with Flover, a floral design atelier, they brought to life Flower Room. This exhibit intertwines nature with minimalism to produce an intriguing outcome.
Situated within a Brooklyn residence designed by Crosby Studios for Compass, this unique installation signifies the firm’s inaugural architectural endeavor. Flower Room comprises a silver framework made from aluminum barbecue trays. Enclosed within this construct is what seems to be a moment of creativity suspended in time. Buckets filled with silver-coated blooms surround a workspace, with petals and remnants scattered across the floor.
Through this piece, Flover enhances the artistry of floristry and freezes it momentarily for all to recall. This craft, encapsulated as sculpture, presents an intriguing contrast to the inherently fleeting essence of floral work. In unison, Crosby Studios and Flover have fashioned a workspace and gallery, inviting the public to appreciate the craftsmanship in this “creative laboratory.”
Although Flower Room was only available for one evening, it attracted over 230 creatives. The event’s success highlights the enchantment of artists collaborating across various fields as well as the charm of pop-up occurrences in New York City.
