9,000 Drones Illuminate the Abu Dhabi Sky to Announce the Arrival of Disneyland

Disney’s Premier Middle East Amusement Park: A Charming Unveiling

The Walt Disney Company has officially unveiled plans for Disneyland Abu Dhabi, signifying Disney’s inaugural foray into the Middle East. Though the date of commencement is still unspecified, the initiative has already started to mesmerize the area. To celebrate the onset of the resort’s construction, Disney joined forces with Lumasky, a distinguished drone light show enterprise, to orchestrate a mesmerizing nocturnal display.

This collaboration produced a record-setting drone exhibition featuring 9,000 drones, establishing it as the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Enhanced by pyrotechnics, a water screen, and a live orchestra of 107 musicians delivering “A Whole New World,” the event also showcased a floating choir. A standout moment was Disney’s famous “fairy dust” swoosh culminating in an aerial illustration of Cinderella’s castle, which spanned an extraordinary 650 meters—tenfold the size of Disney World’s version. The castle imagery then morphed into Abu Dhabi’s avant-garde centerpiece, embodying the UAE’s innovative architecture.

Lumasky meticulously strategized for this occasion, emphasizing animation intricacies, drone paths, and safety protocols. Conducting pre-dawn rehearsals guaranteed a flawless performance despite possible desert wind difficulties.

While Disneyland Abu Dhabi is presently in its conceptual stage, construction is anticipated to last four to six years, with an inauguration expected between 2030 and 2033. Upon completion, it will be the second Disney park not managed by Disney Experiences, following Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

For those keen to experience the magical drone display and remain informed on upcoming exhibitions, following Lumasky on Instagram is advisable. This advancement paves the way for a wondrous future for Disney in the Middle East.
