The iPhone Photography Awards 2025: A Display of Outstanding Winners
For its 18th edition, the iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) continues to showcase the potential of mobile photography. The 2025 IPPAWARDS victors were chosen from over 140 photographers who presented thousands of their finest iPhone images. Ultimately, Jarod Peraza, an American photographer, was honored as Photographer of the Year for his evocative photograph taken in Colombia.
The image, captured on an iPhone 16 Pro Max, depicts the silhouette of an elderly man in the streets of Villa de Leyva, Colombia. This lone figure, bathed in the warm light from a solitary streetlamp, appears to be holding what likely is his own phone. With its cinematic quality, the photograph leaves us in suspense about what might transpire next.
In stark contrast, Brazilian photographer Thiago Bernardes de Souza conveys a distinctly different atmosphere with an enchanting photo of his dogs, securing him the runner-up spot. Taken while exploring Brasília, it encapsulates the happiness his pets experience during their travels. The expressions of the dogs, alongside the stunning sky in the backdrop, render this a quintessential spontaneous iPhone shot.
These remarkable images are complemented by 14 category winners and 522 honorable mentions that illustrate the broad range of iPhone photography. From abstract interpretations of structures to breathtaking black and white portrayals of whales, the winners undoubtedly motivate all of us to grab our phones and start documenting the world around us.
