Funded Fellowships in Arts and Humanities Offered by UT Austin’s Harry Ransom Center

The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin is now accepting applications for its prestigious 2026–2027 research fellowship program. This initiative aims to provide up to 50 fellowships to scholars whose projects necessitate significant on-site use of the center’s acclaimed collections in the humanities.

These fellowships are available to a diverse range of applicants, including graduate students, current and former academic faculty across all career stages, as well as independent researchers from various fields like journalism and the arts. Successful applicants will benefit from residency periods ranging from one week to two months, complemented by stipends meant to support their travel and research endeavors.

Encompassing literature, photography, film, art, and cultural history, the Ransom Center’s collections offer vast opportunities for interdisciplinary study. Notably, the Lorne Michaels Collection joins the center’s archives and will be accessible for research beginning January 2026, providing fresh material for scholarly investigation.

The work undertaken by humanities researchers plays a crucial role in enhancing the collective understanding of what our communities preserve and hold dear. Interested applicants should thoroughly review the specific residency types and requirements detailed in the application guidelines before the submission deadline on November 3, 2025, at 5 pm CST.

About the Center: The Harry Ransom Center stands as a beacon of discovery, creativity, and scholarly activity. As a leading humanities research library and museum, it boasts an impressive assemblage of nearly 45 million literary manuscripts, one million rare books, five million photographs, and over 100,000 artworks.
