Reside in a Mexican Suite Crafted by Artisans Honoring Traditions and Heritage

The joy of traveling lies in allowing yourself to envision a life in a different location, even if just for a short while. While staying in hotels is one option, renting a standalone suite or studio offers the deepest dive into the local culture. Such accommodations are frequently located in areas without hotels, granting you a truer sense of what it’s like to be there. Mesonia in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, exemplifies this experience. This artistically crafted suite merges handcrafted design with leisurely living, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and distinctive.

Situated in the San Antonio neighborhood of the city, Mesonia is a one-bedroom suite designed for two guests. It comes equipped with a king-sized bed, a complete kitchen, a relaxation area, and a personal terrace meant for serene moments and contemplation. In the realm of private rentals, these amenities are relatively standard. However, Mesonia stands out due to its interior design. Upon entering Mesonia, you step into an experience that transcends a typical suite. Instead, you are welcomed into the universe of Mestiz.

Daniel Valero, the founder of Mestiz, a creative studio that partners with local artisans to devise designs that harmonize tradition with modern creativity, is behind Mesonia. He developed the suite’s interior design in collaboration with Maye Estudio, which infused an “architectural sensibility [that] brought unity and warmth to the space.” Valero also crafted the identity and branding, shaping the emotional responses and visuals experienced within the space. This is realized through striking custom furniture and lighting, textile weavings, and ceramics made in partnership with artisans from the Bajio region and Northern Mexico.

The resultant suite is imbued with natural shapes, regional craftsmanship, and the cultural depth of the country. Every aspect is deliberate, from the green banquet area to the sliding glass door’s handles. These components interact with each other, incorporating floral patterns, scalloped edges, and organic materials to anchor the vibrant sky blue, magenta, and green that flow throughout the space. Mesonia functions as a harmonious composition where all elements resonate together.
