Trellis Art Fund Grants 2025 Milestone Awards to 12 Artists
Twelve artists from across the United States have been selected for Trellis Art Fund’s 2025 Milestone Grant, each receiving an unrestricted $100,000 award to be paid over two years. Trellis Art Fund celebrates artists’ work for its intrinsic value by sustaining and uplifting their creative practices within a supportive community.
The 2025 Milestone Grantees are Willie Birch, Julie Buffalohead, Nao Bustamante, william cordova, Sofía Gallisá Muriente, Harmony Hammond, Maren Hassinger, Guadalupe Maravilla, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Walid Raad, Amanda Ross-Ho, and Diana Thater.
“While this year’s grantees vary greatly in their career stage, many mentioned how meaningful the grant is, not only as a financial boost but as encouragement to keep going during this challenging economic and cultural moment,” shared Program Director Emily Davidson. “We’re excited to see how these funds, and being in community with one another, might impact these grantees over the next two years and beyond.”
Now in its second year, the Milestone Grant invited 56 artists, curators, and arts professionals nationwide to nominate artists living in or eligible to work in the United States. From an applicant pool of 81, an anonymous jury of five art leaders selected the 12 grantees based on their demonstrated commitment to their practice, unique contributions to their fields, and sustained quality within their work.
Trellis reserves a number of grants for artists who are also caregivers to children, seniors (such as parents), and other family members in need. In this round, four artists fit this designation: Julie Buffalohead, william cordova, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, and Amanda Ross-Ho.
In addition to financial support, Trellis offers grantees professional development resources. This November, the 2025 cohort will gather with last year’s recipients for a retreat in Upstate New York, giving them an opportunity to meet one another and build community.
