
Winners Revealed for the 2025 Astronomy Photographer of the Year Competition
The victors of the yearly ZWO Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition have been revealed, showcasing a breathtaking collection of celestial visuals that both enchant and motivate. Ranging from detailed pictures of nebulae to awe-inspiring auroras, the photographs remind us of the infinite enigmas and splendor of the universe. Organized by the Royal Observatory Greenwich in the UK, the event attracts talented astrophotographers from around the world, exhibiting some of the finest astrophotography. This year’s grand prize was given to Qi Yang and Chuhong Yu from China for their creative portrayal of the Andromeda Galaxy’s core, characterized by judge László Francsics as a vibrant arrangement with unmatched detail.
In addition to the overall champion, several category awards acknowledged other exceptional talents. The ZWO Young Astronomy Photographer of the Year title was granted to Daniele Borsari from Italy for his remarkable black-and-white nebula photographs. Special accolades were also given for outstanding newcomers and innovative approaches to astronomy imagery.
