The craft of seizing the distinctive personalities and feelings of dogs via photography was prominently showcased at the 2025 Dog Photography Awards. Honoring the finest talent in dog photography, the contest included more than 2,000 submissions from 48 nations. Leading the event was Australian pet photographer Belinda Richards, who earned the title of Dog Photographer of the Year with her series named “I’m All Ears.” Her work notably encompassed a year-long photographic project chronicling the growth of a German Shepherd, highlighting her skill in blending narrative and humor within her visuals. Alongside the esteemed title, Richards was awarded a €2,500 cash prize.

The awards recognized winners in six distinct categories. Jane Thomson distinguished herself with wins in the Studio and Dogs & People sections. Her images are celebrated for their wit and inventiveness, with standout pieces including a cheeky photograph dubbed “Can You Please Trim My Bangs?” featuring a dog with its hair draped over its face, and “May the Fur Be With You,” a playful shot of a rescue pup dressed as Yoda.

Other remarkable winners included Sylvain Langler in the Action category with “Catch It!” and Denisa Zbranková Albaniová for her outdoor portrait “The Shape of Stillness.” The Documentary category was topped by Rebecca Williams with “Watching and Waiting,” a reflective portrayal illustrating the patience and loyalty of dogs.
