
Columbia University Announces MFA Program Open Studios Event
On Sunday, November 16, Columbia University School of the Arts will host the MFA Visual Arts + Sound Art Open Studios and Information Sessions, inviting exploration of graduate studios and insights into student practices. The morning Information Sessions will feature faculty conversations, facility tours, and an overview of the curriculum and admissions process, held at the Lenfest Center for the Arts. These will be livestreamed with sessions at 10am ET for Sound Art and 11:30am ET for Visual Arts. In-person events include an Open House from 11am–1pm ET at Lenfest Center and Open Studios from 2pm–5pm ET at Prentis Hall.
The Visual Arts + Sound Art program emphasizes studio-based training, experimentation, cross-disciplinary dialogue, and critical engagement with contemporary art, preparing graduates for influential roles in the art world. The Visual Arts concentration covers diverse creative fields such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography, fostering collaboration with art spaces in NYC. The Sound Art concentration integrates sound with various media forms, within a collaborative environment connected to NYC’s performance and new-media scene.
