**Catalan Creator Jaume Plensa Presents First US Retrospective at Frederik Meijer Gardens**

Renowned for his large-scale sculptures, Catalan creator Jaume Plensa is celebrated with his first career retrospective in the United States at Michigan’s Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Entitled “Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism,” the exhibit highlights his vast portfolio across both indoor and outdoor areas, concentrating on the core concepts of his art—human life, communal harmony, and human rights.

Plensa’s varied artistry incorporates wood, resin, mixed media, light, and collage. His works are acclaimed for delving into the intricacies of the human experience. Suzanne Ramljak, Vice President of Collections & Curatorial at the Gardens, notes that Plensa’s creations depict the transformative essence of imagination and align with humanist principles.

This retrospective fortifies Plensa’s relationship with the sculpture garden, marking 19 years since his piece “I, you, he, or she…” was added to the museum’s collection, alongside his impactful 2019 installation. The exhibition features significant installations spanning several decades, encouraging reflection on modern humanism and unity in diversity.

“Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism” will be available for viewing until March 15, 2026, in both the indoor galleries and the Stuart and Barbara Padnos Rooftop Sculpture Garden at Meijer Gardens.
