Miami Mural Festival Collects Funds to Convert Elementary School into Creative Landmark

Since 2018, aWall Mural Projects has led a dynamic artistic revival in schools throughout Miami Dade County. More than 150 Miami schools have been beautified with murals under the leadership of artist Sergio Arce, known as the Registered Artist. This initiative combines the expertise of both international and local artists, cultivating an inspiring atmosphere that highlights the significance of art in education.

As Miami Art Week draws near, anticipation is rising around the aWall Mural Projects, which is poised to enrich Emerson Elementary with breathtaking new artwork. Fundraising activities are actively underway through GoFundMe, gathering support for this meaningful project. The aim is to provide both creative inspiration and financial assistance to participating artists, who graciously volunteer their time. The funds raised will cover essential items such as art supplies, tools, and basic necessities for the artists, ensuring the festival operates seamlessly.

Eugene Kim, co-founder and editor-in-chief of My Modern Met, stands firmly behind this initiative. He commends the commitment of the artists involved and underscores the importance of backing art that enriches and motivates young minds. My Modern Met has made contributions to the cause, acknowledging the transformative influence of community-oriented art projects.

This year’s event, scheduled from November 29 to December 8, will showcase a variety of artists, including Jesse Warne, Pyramid Guy, Jieun Kim, and Wing Chow. Each artist will contribute their distinct style, infusing vibrant colors and creativity into the school’s atmosphere. As plans unfold for the 2025 edition, the aWall Project continues to develop, aiming to broaden its outreach and further integrate art into educational environments.
