London Gallery Reveals David Hockney’s Latest Artwork Launch

Renowned British artist David Hockney is celebrated for his distinctive, vibrant style that encapsulates the world with lively energy. Throughout a career exceeding 70 years, he has persistently redefined his methods, engaging in painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and, more recently, digital mediums like the iPad and multi-screen setups. The 88-year-old artist shows no intention of slowing down, with his latest creations set to debut at the Serpentine gallery in London.
Hockney began creating art on his iPad during the COVID-19 pandemic, when much of the globe was in confinement. He created hundreds of works, portraying the shifting seasons in his hallmark, vivid color scheme. The exhibition showcases Hockney’s renowned Moon Room, reflecting his enduring fascination with the cycle of light and the passage of time. Attendees can also view the artist’s digital paintings from the Sunrise series, demonstrating Hockney’s ongoing exploration of technology.
The exhibition additionally highlights A Year in Normandy, an expansive 90-meter (295-foot) frieze inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry. Encompassing the complete cycle of the seasons, it depicts the evolving landscape around Hockney’s former studio in Normandy. Hockney expresses, “I’m thrilled to host an exhibition at Serpentine in 2026 during such a significant year for the Bayeux Tapestry, one of the oldest and most extraordinary artworks.”
The exhibition at Serpentine North will be accessible from March 12 to August 23, 2026, and admission is complimentary. Discover more on the Serpentine website.
