Top 10 Art Exhibitions in Paris for 2025

The Parisian art world in 2025 has been a vibrant mix of museum blockbusters, historical rediscoveries, and groundbreaking exhibitions, highlighting a city bustling with creativity and innovation. Major shifts include the Centre Pompidou closing its Beaubourg building for renovations and Fondation Cartier relocating next to the Louvre. These developments underscore Paris’s status as a vital center for experiencing contemporary art.

One standout exhibition, “Énormément Bizarre” at the Centre Pompidou, delved into the eclectic world of Jean Chatelus, presenting almost 400 works that defied traditional notions of taste and decorum. Another, “Paris Noir,” also at the Centre Pompidou, showcased the contributions of Black artists in post-war Paris, emphasizing their role in global modernism and anti-colonial movements.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton’s “David Hockney 25” exhibition celebrated the artist’s work over the past 25 years, while Fondation Pinault’s dual exhibitions “Minimal” and “Lygia Pape: Weaving Space” expanded the narrative of Minimalism and Neo-Concretism through installations and performance art.

Elsewhere, the Institut suédois presented Tarik Kiswanson’s “The Relief,” weaving art and architecture with themes of displacement, and Lafayette Anticipations hosted “Meriem Bennani: Sole Crushing,” a kinetic sound installation. Grand Palais spotlighted the dynamic artistic partnership of Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Tinguely, and Pontus Hulten.

Paris’s art scene further celebrated Otobong Nkanga’s exploration of consumption and interconnectedness at the Musée d’Art Moderne, and the Louvre’s major Jacques-Louis David retrospective examined art’s political potency.

With these exhibitions, Paris maintains its allure as a dynamic hub for art and cultural discourse, pushing boundaries and redefining the experience of modern and historical art.
