Connor Wright’s Solo Exhibition: “Alexa, Truth or Dare?” Debuts

**Connor Wright Presents “Alexa, Truth or Dare?” in New York City**
On view in Manhattan through January 20, 2026, Connor Wright’s exhibition “Alexa, Truth or Dare?” introduces a striking collection of new large-scale paintings that engage deeply with the contemporary influx of images. The exhibition, curated by Jesse Bandler Firestone, is held at 545 West 23rd Street. Wright’s work fishes through the torrent of our visual age, touching on a cornucopia of subjects—political, iconic, and obscure.
Rejecting a clear decoding of modern chaos, Wright opts instead to absorb and reinterpret the imagery with a personal and intuitive visual language reflective of today’s extreme subjectivity and rapidly shifting fame cycles. His source material, eclectic and vast, spans personal archives, sports photography, niche internet culture, found objects, and historical records. This egalitarian approach places icons beside the mundane, politics with personal experiences, and juxtaposes tragedy as well as absurdity, crafting a shared canvas for all narratives through a consistent graphic style.
These works feature oil renderings atop vibrant spray-painted backgrounds reminiscent of tie-dye. Wright’s subjects hover between figuration and abstraction, embodying presence even in their outline form. Monumental yet intentionally distorted, the figures celebrate an artistic presence with exaggerated, elongated forms and notably distinct hands with acrylic nails, embodying both tenderness and a bold cultural statement. These pieces challenge viewers to appreciate the cacophony of modern life in its raw, sensual, and animated form.
