LSU School of Art Provides Top MFA Stipends in the Southern United States

Louisiana State University (LSU) is paving the way for aspiring artists by offering substantial support through assistantships, as well as an inspiring environment for a fruitful art practice.
Located in the beautifully redesigned 75,000-square-foot Barnes Ogden Art & Design Complex, LSU provides 35 graduate assistantships for Master of Fine Arts (MFA) students in studio art disciplines. These include traditional fields such as ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, as well as contemporary practices like digital art, graphic design, and cross-disciplinary approaches. Offering a $23,000 annual stipend along with full tuition waivers and subsidized health insurance, these assistantships are among the most lucrative in the Southern United States, on par with top-tier national programs.
LSU’s MFA in Studio Arts program encourages students to personalize their creative journey, providing mentoring from an international assemblage of professional artists, designers, and academics. LSU School of Art features individual and shared studios, frequent individual and group critiques and seminars, chances to study abroad, and numerous exhibition opportunities across various galleries and venues in the region.
Prospective students should submit their applications to the LSU School of Art by February 1, as reviews are underway.
