**Hyperallergic: A Commitment to Integrity and Justice in Arts Journalism**

In a media landscape often overshadowed by subservience and complacency, Hyperallergic has stood as a beacon of integrity in arts journalism for over a decade. Six years ago, I, Hakim Bishara, joined Hyperallergic, drawn by its dedication to uncover and tell stories that often go untold in mainstream art publications. The platform’s unwavering adherence to its core values of free expression and unyielding truth-telling inspired my journey from a contributor to the editor-in-chief.

At Hyperallergic, we rejoice in the liberty to speak our minds without fear. This principle is distinct in an era riddled with bad-faith journalism, where critical thinking is often sacrificed at the altar of corporate interests. As I step into the role of editor-in-chief, I pledge to reinforce these guiding values that have been the cornerstone of our publication.

Our mission is clear: we will continue to speak truth to power and address pressing contemporary issues head-on. Hyperallergic stands as a force against tyranny, racism, misogyny, anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, and elitism—not only within the art world but in society at large. Accountability is critical, and we will scrutinize art institutions and influential figures, ensuring they adhere to ethical standards.

We are advocates for art workers, educators, students, labor organizers, and community activists, providing them with a platform to amplify their voices. Our commitment extends to marginalized groups, who are so often overlooked, to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve. At Hyperallergic, we uphold the vision of art as a fundamental human right, pushing back against its commodification as mere investment for the affluent.

Despite challenges, including financial ones, our resolve has not wavered. We have prioritized our principles over profit for 16 years, proving our dedication to the cause. As we march forward, there is still much to be done and many battles to fight. I invite you, our supporters and readers, to be part of this vital journey. Together, we can continue making an impact in the art world by challenging norms and advocating for truth and justice. Join us in upholding these values—become a member of Hyperallergic today.

Sincerely,

Hakim Bishara
