Ferrari Reveals Interior Photos of Their First Electric Vehicle, Set to Launch Later This Year

Since 1939, Ferrari has been fervently developing luxury Italian sports cars, merging heritage and modernity to forge everlasting symbols of the road. Their latest model elevates this endeavor even further. The brand first hinted at their inaugural EV back in October 2025. Now, they are set to reveal the initial glimpse of the all-new Ferrari Luce, showcased on February 9 in San Francisco.

Luce—the four-door, four-seat Gran Turismo boasting over 1,000 horsepower from four electric motors—is anticipated to be Ferrari’s heaviest offering, tipping the scales at approximately 5,100 pounds. The word “luce” directly translates to “light” in Italian; however, the significance behind the vehicle’s name, according to Ferrari, embodies “unwavering vision, transparent design, silent energy felt in every fiber, and form crafted by function.” This is clearly visible in the newly unveiled images of the car’s interior design.

Ferrari aimed to refine every aspect to embody their vision for the future. With this ambitious initiative slightly beyond the company’s expertise, they partnered with San Francisco-based LoveFrom for the interior design. Headed by Sir Jony Ive, former chief design officer at Apple and the visionary behind much of the technology we utilize daily—including the iconic iPhone—Ive’s style and influence is evident in every fresh detail.

The steering wheel exemplifies the fusion of tradition and innovation beautifully. The three-spoke design draws inspiration from the wooden three-spoke Nardi wheel of the 1950s and 60s, epitomizing classic, exquisite Italian craftsmanship. The recycled aluminum is left exposed to highlight the material’s quality, and the entire wheel is 400 grams lighter than the typical Ferrari wheel. Moreover, analog control modules provide the driver with seamless, straightforward control over the vehicle’s mechanics, rekindling the traditional aspect. The design is highly intentional, with a focus on practicality, making the wheel reminiscent of a Formula One car. For an optimized line of sight, the binnacle containing three OLED panels features a remarkably futuristic display.

Arguably the most characteristic and groundbreaking element of the interior design is the animation of the key and its dock. Rather than a conventional EV fob, the Luce displays a thoughtfully crafted Gorilla Glass and “E Ink” key that fits into a specific dock within the center console. Once docked, the key’s background color shifts from yellow to black, seamlessly blending with the center console. Thus, the key transforms into a more symbolic item, acting as a ceremonial artifact that underscores the idea that ownership begins before leaving the lot. This small yet innovative detail reflects how Ive and his design team aspired to make every interaction significant.

The control panel continues this motif, incorporating tactile elements to maintain physical engagement within the tech-savvy environment. Another instance of design interaction is present in the overhead control, featuring several standard buttons alongside a prominent, large Launch pull. Activating Launch mode automatically modifies torque and stability systems while allocating additional power for a flawless start that brings the car to life.

Luce is a unique addition to Ferrari’s lineup, harmonizing cutting-edge technology with classic sports car heritage. The final reveal of the exterior design is scheduled for Italy in May, marking a new chapter in Ferrari’s rich, exclusive, and iconic legacy.

Ferrari revealed its inaugural electric vehicle, Luce, and teased its impending launch with interior images of the car.

The brand collaborated with Sir Jony Ive’s firm LoveFrom on the interior design, striving to meld sleek modern technology with the quintessential Ferrari sports car aesthetic that defines the brand.

The steering wheel and attached binnacle integrate fresh, deliberately designed modern features like three OLED displays while also drawing from traditional sports car influences with the three-spoke design.

Another innovative element is the key functionality: when the key is docked, it not only starts the vehicle but also blends into the center console by shifting in color from yellow to black, thanks to “E Ink.”

Launch mode effortlessly prepares the car for a smooth departure with a simple pull.

Every aspect of Ferrari’s new EV highlights the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship, precision, and luxury.
