Captivating Drip-Style Art Decorates Las Vegas Sphere with Vibrant, Shifting Hues

Title: Jen Stark Transforms Las Vegas’ Iconic Sphere with Psychedelic Art in “Cosmic Cascade”

In a destination where spectacle thrives, Las Vegas has once again taken things to the next level with the captivating makeover of the Sphere—an architectural and technological wonder—into a medium for modern art. The newest installation illuminating its digital facade is “Cosmic Cascade” by celebrated multimedia artist Jen Stark, a mesmerizing, kaleidoscopic experience that expands her distinctive style to a remarkable magnitude.

The Sphere: A Colossus of Creativity

Towering at 366 feet and spanning 516 feet in width, the Las Vegas Sphere boasts the world’s largest LED screen: its expansive 580,000-square-foot Exosphere. Located just off the Strip beside the Venetian Resort, the Sphere offers immersive visual experiences that redefine the fusion of art, architecture, and entertainment.

Since its grand debut in 2023, the Sphere has transformed into not just a concert space—featuring performances by iconic groups like U2—but also a dynamic digital art gallery, visible from miles away across Las Vegas. That same year, Refik Anadol launched the XO/Art program, a curated initiative designed to present digital masterpieces on the Sphere’s stunning canvas.

Jen Stark’s Dream Realized

Meet Jen Stark, globally recognized for her vibrant, melting-layer motifs that reflect nature, psychedelia, and spiritual awakening. “Cosmic Cascade” represents her latest and most ambitious public endeavor to date, distinguishing itself from anything witnessed before at this magnitude.

“When I first encountered the Sphere a couple of years ago, I envisioned having my artwork displayed there,” Stark revealed in a conversation with My Modern Met. “It offers the perfect canvas as the largest LED screen globally.” This vision materialized in 2024 when she was invited by the Sphere’s programming team to contribute to the XO/Art exhibition.

Bringing “Cosmic Cascade” to Life

Translating her 2D aesthetic into a 3D animated spectacle was quite a challenge. Stark joined forces with acclaimed motion designer David Lewandowski—her longtime creative ally—to animate the fluid forms of “Cosmic Cascade.” Together, they captured Stark’s iconic “drippy layers,” showcasing them in vibrant gradients and pulsating movements that flow over the Sphere’s curvature like liquid light.

“We knew we wanted to highlight my signature psychedelic dripping style and give it a three-dimensional effect oozing down the sides of Sphere,” Stark stated. “This project was among the most challenging and enjoyable I’ve ever tackled. Experiencing it in person in Vegas was mind-blowing. It was truly a dream come true!”

A Psychedelic Spectacle for All to See

“Cosmic Cascade” is not merely an artwork—it’s a sensory experience. From vivid swirling colors to gravity-defying patterns that seem to melt and reshape, the animation creates a living surface for the Sphere. By night, it transforms into a luminescent landmark that captivates both tourists and locals, standing out against the neon splendor of Las Vegas.

For art enthusiasts, tech aficionados, and casual observers, this collaboration highlights how far digital art has advanced—and boldly where it is headed.
