China’s Technological Capital Features Unprecedented Drone Light Display

Chongqing, among the largest cities in China, has recently cemented its position as a cutting-edge metropolis through a remarkable achievement in drone performances. Renowned for its sleek skyline and the planet’s largest monorail system, Chongqing also enthralled spectators with a record-setting drone exhibition.

On June 16, the city marked the 28th year since its establishment as China’s fourth municipality with an extraordinary event titled “Charming Chongqing.” This occasion, coordinated by Chongqing Broadcasting Media Group Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Shenzhen DAMODA Intelligent Control Technology Co., Ltd., showcased an astonishing array of 11,787 drones. This accomplishment surpassed the former Guinness World Record of 10,197 drones for the biggest aerial image crafted by drones, a record that DAMODA had previously established over Shenzhen in October 2024.

The thematic spectacle centered around the ideas of “landscape, culture, life, and city,” providing audiences with a narrative experience divided into seven unique chapters. Highlights featured breathtaking recreations of Chongqing’s signature skyline, colorful portrayals of nature including an inverted flower, and cultural symbols like the Huangge Tree. These visuals not only honored the city’s rich heritage but also illustrated its vibrant development as a cultural hub.

As the audience marveled at the brilliant aerial displays, the event highlighted Chongqing’s ambition to position itself as a frontrunner in cultural innovation and technological progress. The drone performance, encapsulating aspects of Chongqing’s essence and future goals, demonstrated a city standing at the intersection of tradition and innovation.

For those fascinated by the blend of technology and artistry, such drone performances unveil new dimensions of experiential entertainment, fostering a mix of creativity and innovation that propels cities like Chongqing to the leading edge of global cultural scenes.
