AI-Powered Eco-Friendly Wooden Earbuds Interpret More Than 150 Languages Instantly

In an effort to address the escalating quantity of plastic earbuds that contribute to landfill waste, Sudeshna Naik, a graduate in Development Engineering from UC Berkeley, took the initiative to develop an alternative solution. She has recently unveiled a pair of eco-friendly, wireless earbuds named The PIN, which are meticulously crafted from genuine wood and feature impressive AI-driven capabilities.

Naik focused on sustainable product development, learning how to design items that are both environmentally conscious and appealing to consumers. “At Berkeley, I faced a tough realization: The reasons behind the failure of many sustainable products,” she explains. “The takeaway was unmistakable: If consumers believe they are sacrificing performance, they will opt against sustainability. The PIN was created to alter that perception.”

Each earbud features housings constructed from sustainably sourced walnut, cherry, and bamboo, complemented by recycled materials. No two sets are identical, as the unique wood grain imparts individual character, while a water-resistant seal ensures durability across all weather conditions.

When paired with the free, no-subscription app, the earbuds activate advanced functionalities such as customized EQ settings, voice-activated AI support, location tracking, and real-time translation in over 150 languages. The app simplifies travel with its text translation capability. Just aim your phone’s camera at a sign or menu in more than 20 languages, and the earbuds will vocalize the translation.

The earbuds also promise an immersive, high-quality audio experience with AAC codec support and Dual-ENC for crisp calls in any setting. A smart touch sensor allows effortless control over music, calls, and translation mode activation. Additionally, users can enjoy up to eight hours of playback on a single charge, with the case extending total listening time to 32 hours. A quick 15-minute charge provides an additional three hours of use.

Given their intelligent features and considerate design, it’s no wonder that The PIN earbuds quickly became a success on Kickstarter. The campaign reached its funding goal in just two hours and currently boasts over 900 supporters. The creators have also pledged to plant a tree for every 10 units sold.
