Exhibition Celebrating Deceased Fashion Photographer Rodney Smith Launches in Mexico City

The Franz Mayer Museum is poised to present a pioneering retrospective exhibition featuring fashion photographer Rodney Smith in Mexico City. This event represents the first thorough homage to Smith’s artistry within Mexico, in line with the museum’s goal to honor creative and decorative arts. Renowned for his emblematic, surreal black-and-white photographs, Smith’s career spanned 45 years, documenting celebrities, fashion advertisements, and beyond. The exhibition, titled “Rodney Smith: SURREAL,” is organized by Anne Morin and will take place from October 29, 2025, to March 15, 2026. The launch coincides with Día de los Muertos, ensuring a profound connection between Smith’s exploration of concepts such as transformation and the cultural celebrations.
