2025 Spotlight Awards Honor Exceptional Accomplishments in Commercial Photography
The realm of commercial photography is extensive. Whether capturing sophisticated fashion layouts or discovering innovative methods to photograph a vehicle, commercial photographers influence how we perceive the world. In recognition of their artistic input, the 2025 Spotlight Awards honored 15 photographers from diverse categories.
Photographer Todd Antony secured the Grand Prize, along with the Sport category, for his captivating portrayal of Central Asia’s traditional sport, buzkashi. “[It] is frequently likened to polo—but with hundreds of riders, no teams, and a headless goat instead of a ball,” Antony describes. “Intense chapandaz vie for dominance in chaotic scenes that encroach upon the audience, with matches extending for hours until one rider drags the goat over a dirt finish line. Once a nomadic pastime, it continues to be a dramatic highlight during festivals and weddings today.”
Antony’s achievement is one among numerous outstanding winners of this eighth iteration of the photo contest. Evaluated by over 50 judges, all of whom are professionals in the industry and potential clients, a victory in the photography contest signifies genuine admiration from the peers of these photographers. Notable entries include Delaney McQuown’s striking image featuring Marvis toothpaste and Dámaso Ávila’s sleek black and white photograph of Lisbon’s Oriente Station.
“When assessing, I endeavor to concentrate not solely on the technical or visual quality but also on the image’s ability to resonate or narrate a story, which is challenging when limited to a single frame,” reveals judge Consuelo Bolea, senior producer at Red Bull. “I also appreciate the harmony between concept and execution, along with the character of the proposal, where the author’s vision is evident.”
