Refik Anadol Introduces DATALAND: An Innovative AI Museum
Visionary artist Refik Anadol has disclosed additional details regarding his upcoming museum of AI art, *DATALAND*. With the grand opening approaching in spring 2026, Anadol is providing insights into what guests can anticipate during their visit to the museum. Positioned within the Frank Gehry-designed The Grand LA, *DATALAND* stands as the first of its kind.
A trailblazer in AI art long before it gained popularity, Anadol is ready to populate the museum’s five galleries with works that exhibit the complete potential of AI. Anadol’s team has unveiled a preview of one gallery, set to showcase his striking *Infinity Room*—the artist’s inaugural immersive data sculpture. Originally crafted at UCLA in 2014, the sculpture has journeyed across 35 cities globally over the past decade. In its new abode at *DATALAND*, it will invite visitors into Gallery C with its flawlessly symmetrical oscillating waves of black-and-white visuals that utilize light as a medium and data as color.
The *DATALAND* version of *Infinity Room* integrates AI-generated fragrances from Anadol’s Large Nature Model and will introduce World Models for the first time. Anadol describes this as “an advanced type of generative AI model that comprehends the dynamics of real-world physics and spatial characteristics.”
Furthermore, Anadol and Google Arts & Culture have announced their collaboration to establish an Artist Residency program at *DATALAND*. This residency will provide three artists with six months to explore the creative opportunities presented by AI. Through mentorship and financial support, they will be inspired to produce their own immersive installations.
