Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Reveal Largest Indoor Godzilla Statue in the World
Picture yourself disembarking from the plane at Tokyo’s Haneda airport. You touch down at Terminal 3, the international section of the airport, and are welcomed by an unexpected representative: Godzilla! Indeed, the King of Monsters will be establishing his presence at the airport in a grand manner. A colossal version, stretching 131 feet, will be positioned above a part of the departure lobby on the third floor of Terminal 3. He’ll reign over all the travelers hurrying to their gates, comfortably knowing he doesn’t need to squeeze his carry-on belongings into just two bags.
Arriving in December 2025, this will be the largest indoor Godzilla statue worldwide. The creators have not disclosed which version of the kaiju will be used as their reference, but the visualizations shared by the airport suggest it’s the Godzilla featured in the 2023 film Godzilla Minus One. Its fearsome teeth and brilliant blue spikes will extend the length of Edo Marketplace, providing an exhilarating experience while passing through the terminal.
Alongside the gigantic Godzilla exhibit, a smaller statue will greet all newcomers to the airport, and a vibrant graphic illustrating monsters throughout history will be showcased in the arrivals lobby on the second floor. Collectively, these three representations are known as the Haneda Godzilla Global Project. They are planned to be on display for one year. Therefore, if you happen to fly through Haneda over the upcoming year, keep an eye out for him.
