The Royal Photographic Society Reveals 2025 Recipients of the World’s Most Enduring Photography Award

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS), recognized as the longest-standing photography awards globally, has revealed its winners for 2025. Established in 1853, the RPS is dedicated to making the art and science of photography accessible to everyone, honoring the medium’s development. The 2025 contest underscores this legacy by highlighting the varied potentials within photography.

Susan Derges was awarded the esteemed RPS Centenary Medal for her significant impact on the art, celebrated for her groundbreaking camera-less photography that integrates nature and elements of the landscape. Omar Victor Diop, who initially gained fame for his landscape compositions and fashion photography, was honored with the RPS Award for Achievement in the Art of Photography for his exquisite portrait work. David Malin was recognized with the RPS Progress Medal for his contributions to astronomical photography.

These accolades pay tribute to individuals who are advancing the limits of artistic and scientific photography, as well as educating, publishing, and volunteering to enhance the community. RPS President Simon Hill highlighted the ongoing transformation of photography as both an art form and a way to comprehend the world.
