Gorilla Grooving Secures Top Spot in 2025 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards

**Prepare to Chuckle: 2025 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards Surprise with Humorous Wildlife Imagery**

Much like children, animals exhibit the wildest behaviors—and a selection of photographers had the fortune to seize these entertaining instances on camera. The 2025 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards have revealed this year’s finalists and victors, highlighting the amusing characteristics of wild animals.

Amateur wildlife photographer Mark Meth-Cohn achieved the highest accolade as the overall champion of the contest with his piece titled “High Five,” capturing a perfectly timed image of a gorilla dancing in Rwanda in early 2025. The photograph shows the gorilla appearing to practice a high kick, with a focused expression enhancing the comedic nature of the shot.

“We spent four unforgettable days trekking through the misty Virunga Mountains in search of the gorilla families that call them home,” shared Meth-Cohn. On this particular day, they encountered the Amahoro family, where the young males exhibited particularly playful behavior, leading to the delightful capture that Meth-Cohn delivered.

Mark Meth-Cohn’s triumphant photograph was selected from a record-setting 10,000 submissions from photographers across 109 nations in the competition’s decade-long existence.

The competition honored nine category victors and acknowledged 10 entries as Highly Commended winners. Voting is currently open for the STERNA People’s Choice Award, enabling the public to select their favorite finalists until March 1, 2026.
