Aldrich Museum Announces Artists Selected for Inaugural Decennial Exhibition

The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Connecticut is set to launch its inaugural Aldrich Decennial exhibition, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s 62-year history. This survey will spotlight artists actively living and creating in Connecticut, showcasing their work prominently from June 7, 2025, to January 10, 2027. For this exciting venture, 40 artists have been selected, each of whom has not previously had a solo museum exhibition in the state. Among them are New Haven-based painter Dominic Chambers, Iranian-born multi-media artist Arghavan Khosravi, and novelist and poet Renee Gladman.

The exhibition, titled “Aldrich Decennial: I Am What Is Around Me,” borrows its name from Wallace Stevens’ 1917 poem “Theory,” reflecting the idea of one’s identity shaped by their environment. Chief Curator Amy Smith-Stewart expressed enthusiasm for presenting this survey, which not only demonstrates the creative diversity of Connecticut but also positions the museum as a community-connected yet globally resonant art space.

The exhibition underscores Connecticut’s legacy as a nurturing ground for influential artists, drawing inspiration from the rich artistic history of figures like Alexander Calder and Sol LeWitt. This ongoing decennial series aims to highlight the vibrant art scene residing within the state, with each edition potentially expanding the narrative and profile of regional artists who continue to develop groundbreaking work.
