Interview with Will Wilson

**Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Hosts ‘In Conversation’ Exhibition Featuring Will Wilson and Edward Sheriff Curtis**

The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, in collaboration with Art Bridges, is showcasing an engaging exhibition titled “In Conversation: Will Wilson,” available in the Main Gallery until August 23, 2026. This exhibition juxtaposes the work of contemporary Diné (Navajo) artist Will Wilson with the historical photographs of Edward Sheriff Curtis, inviting viewers to contemplate the evolution of Native American representation in photography.

Will Wilson, born in 1969, is known for using modern photographic techniques and digital media to revisit and challenge the perceptions shaped by Curtis’s early 20th-century project, “The North American Indian.” Wilson’s art encourages reflection on identity and visibility, examining who controls the narrative in imagery.

Running parallel to this exhibition, the Visual Arts Center also presents “Present and Growing,” a solo exhibition by Gabriel Garcia Roman, in the Mitzi and Warren Eisenberg Gallery. Additionally, “With Passing Years,” featuring Chrystofer Davis’s work, will be displayed in the Marité and Joe Robinson Strolling Gallery I until June 7, 2026.
