2026 Craft Archive Fellowship Application Announcement

The Center for Craft has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Craft Archive Fellowship, offering four $5,000 awards aimed at fostering research on underrepresented craft histories in the United States. This fellowship is accessible to a diverse group of scholars, from emerging to well-established individuals, including independent and artist researchers. The focus of the research will be on feminist, intersectional, queer, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and other nondominant craft histories. Selected fellows will have the chance to engage in both conventional and innovative archival research methods, leading to a special feature in Hyperallergic and participation in a virtual program hosted by the Center for Craft in September 2027.

Three of the fellowships will bear specific names: the Ayumi Horie Award, the Sara Clugage Award, and the Gallaher Family Award. There is an opportunity for additional awards to be named by reaching out to the Center for Craft.

A virtual information session is scheduled for April 7, 2026, from 5 to 6 pm (ET), which is free and open to all, although registration is mandatory. The deadline for applications is May 20, 2026. Interested candidates can find more information and apply via the Center for Craft website or by contacting [email protected].
