Rosalía and Björk Present an Energetic Rendition of “Berghain” at the BRIT Awards

Last year, Spanish artist Rosalía revealed her fourth studio album, Lux. Although it was released in November, it swiftly found its place on the “Best of 2025” lists for its bold genre fusion and exceptional collaborators. No other track embodied this better than the lead single, “Berghain,” a magnificent dark baroque-pop piece featuring the iconic Icelandic vocalist Björk. Recently, the duo presented the song live for the first time with an electrifying performance at the BRIT Awards.
While Rosalía was scheduled to take the stage at the event, the appearance of the notoriously elusive Björk was a delightful surprise for both the audience in attendance and fans watching from home. The Spanish singer, clad in a white Vivienne Westwood gown, was accompanied by the Heritage Orchestra and a semi-circular choir, which parted after the song’s chorus to unveil the Icelandic legend. True to her distinctive fashion, Björk donned a structured dress inspired by human molecules, crafted by Amit Aggarwal.
Opening with a verse in German, the song, which features U.S. artist Yves Tumor and input from the London Symphony Orchestra, highlights Rosalía’s classical background. While the title “Berghain” conjures images of the renowned Berlin nightclub, Rosalía has pointed out that it also signifies “a collection of trees in the forest,” serving as a metaphor for the mind. “We all have our own internal labyrinths,” she mentioned in an interview.
In a conversation with Zane Lowe about her creative dynamic with Björk, Rosalía stated, “She’s my mother. Mother, mother, mother, unquestionably. She’s the most motivating. She and Patti Smith are my artistic mothers. Both are so liberated and irreverent.” The pair previously joined forces in 2023 on the charity single “Oral.”
Rosalía also earned the BRIT Award for Best International Artist, triumphing over Bad Bunny, Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift, making her the first Spanish recipient in this category. “It’s a great honor to bring my music far from home and I would love to share this with all my peers who also create music in Spanish. Let’s continue to celebrate the otherness, let’s continue to honor diverse music, cultures, and languages,” Rosalía expressed in her acceptance speech.
