Spirit Halloween to Temporarily Occupy Space at Kennedy Center
Satire: Kennedy Center Leases Space to Spirit Halloween for Renovation Funds
The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, is reportedly finding creative solutions for funding its $250 million renovation. A temporary lease with Spirit Halloween has been signed to generate revenue. Due to shifting federal funds, purportedly redirected to the Department of War, the center is exploring alternative financial sources.
An anonymous employee, fearing the prospect of donning a Ghostface costume to scare shoppers, revealed the unusual arrangement. The lease includes controversial stipulations: Spirit Halloween is expected to sell culturally insensitive costumes, allegedly to counter accusations of “woke” programming at the center. However, a request to sell KKK costumes was reportedly declined by Spirit Halloween.
Both the Kennedy Center and Spirit Halloween’s parent company, Spencer Gifts, have not responded to requests for comments. It is rumored that the Kennedy Center may also be considering a lease with a seasonal Christmas shop.
