BIG Unveils Temporary Venue for Shakira’s Concert Series in Madrid

Shakira, Live Nation, and the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) have unveiled plans for an innovative venue called the Shakira Stadium at Macondo Park in Madrid, set for 2026. This temporary installation is crafted for the Colombian singer’s 11-show residency as part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” World Tour. More than just a typical stadium, it serves as a tribute to Latin American culture, accommodating 50,000 attendees. The stadium stands out for its cutting-edge design, incorporating large LED screens and staging elements designed by Yellow Studio.

In contrast to standard stadiums, its environment draws inspiration from festival settings, complete with artisan markets, food stalls, and recreational areas. These amenities, curated by Shakira’s children, are intended to create a family-oriented atmosphere. The design features sinuous pathways embellished with vibrant recycled materials and “green islands” reflecting the landscapes of Spain and Latin America.

Named after the imaginary town Macondo from Gabriel García Márquez’s “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” the venue celebrates Colombian culture and has already secured sales of over half a million tickets. Shakira Stadium promises an immersive experience that goes beyond music, characterized by BIG as a celebration of music, culture, and human connections.
