
“Extensive 70-Year Yayoi Kusama Exhibition Planned for European Tour from 2025 to 2027”
Yayoi Kusama’s art will be honored in a much-awaited retrospective at the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, commencing on October 12, 2025. This exhibition will highlight the artist’s vast career spanning over seven decades, featuring her iconic polka dot paintings, pumpkin sculptures, and Infinity Mirror Rooms. Emphasizing her innovative approach, the retrospective will include a varied array of media such as installations, drawings, collages, performances, fashion, and literature. New works created exclusively for this occasion will also be showcased. After its premiere in Basel, the exhibition will move to Museum Ludwig in Cologne on March 14, 2026, and subsequently to the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam on September 11, 2026, continuing until January 17, 2027. The exhibition is set to captivate audiences of all ages, as Kusama continues to amaze with her creativity and artistic perspective, even at 96 years old. Throughout her distinguished career, she has been a significant force in the Pop Art movement, represented Japan at the Venice Biennale, and ranked as the top-selling contemporary artist in 2023. Kusama’s vibrant work conveys a sense of playful simplicity that resonates with a broad audience, establishing her as a revered figure worldwide.
