Stacey L. Kirby’s Art Installation: The Bureau of Personal Belonging

Stamps Gallery is showcasing “The Bureau of Personal Belonging” by Stacey L. Kirby, an interactive performance series set in immersive installations. The exhibit, encouraging discussions on identity and civic engagement, uses bureaucratic themes for playful interactions with the audience. As the 2025 Roman J. Witt Artist-in-Residence, Kirby spent 12 weeks at the University of Michigan, creating a site-specific installation aimed at highlighting democratic values and art’s role in creating solidarity. Curated by Srimoyee Mitra with Haley Babcock-Perkins, it runs at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design until November 8, funded by U-M Arts Initiative.
