Solar-Powered Motorcycle Makes its Entrance as the First in the Industry
Solar power has benefitted various sectors, yet its application in transportation has been limited. Although occasionally seen in innovative cars, solar energy has not been utilized to power a motorcycle—until this moment. MASK Architects has imagined a future with SOLARIS, the inaugural self-charging solar motorcycle in the world.
Öznur Pınar Cer and Danilo Petta, the creators of MASK Architects, characterize SOLARIS as an ecological innovation, offering complete autonomy independent of fuel or electrical networks. Its photovoltaic wings capture sunlight when stationary.
Drawing inspiration from biomimetic design and the movements of a leopard, SOLARIS boasts a powerful electric motor, regenerative braking, and a streamlined aluminum–carbon composite frame for enhanced agility. The smart solar energy management system tracks energy in real-time. Riders can monitor their performance and solar collection through a digital cockpit and app.
SOLARIS has the potential to make mobility accessible to eco-conscious users, eco-tourism businesses, regions with limited charging facilities, logistics companies, and urban areas benefiting from self-sufficient vehicles.
“A solar motorcycle generating its own energy, reshaping the economics of transport,” state the designers. Although it is still in the conceptual phase, SOLARIS could transform transportation.
