LG Unveils AI-Powered Home Robot for Automatic Household Tasks

We all have tasks we detest. Perhaps it’s folding laundry or cooking after a long day at work. These are the kinds of responsibilities you frequently wish to delegate to someone else. Even better, someone who wouldn’t complain or tire. Well, LG Electronics has a solution in the works for you. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, the company introduced LG CLOiD, a robot powered by AI that can handle household chores.

Similar to the iconic Rosey the robot maid from The Jetsons, LG CLOiD is engineered with a sizable upper body and two arms to execute and manage daily tasks. This encompasses aiding you with chores around the house and even surveying your home. To accomplish this, it possesses autonomous mobility (indicating that it can navigate independently) alongside a range of sensors and cameras. When connected to LG’s app-enabled ThinQ appliances (like washers and dryers), it can leverage that information not only to assist you immediately but also to propose enhancements to your lifestyle.

The LG CLOiD can also engage in conversation with you. Its head acts as a “mobile AI home hub” housing a chipset—essentially LG CLOiD’s brain—that employs a display and the previously mentioned cameras and sensors to communicate with you using voice-activated generative AI.

At CES, LG CLOiD was showcased prominently, demonstrating its capabilities. During a presentation, this included placing laundry in the dryer and a croissant in the oven. These actions are part of what LG describes as its Zero Labor Home initiative, where we can simply relish living in our home with minimal upkeep. There’s no need to prepare breakfast anymore. While you’re getting dressed for the day, the LG CLOiD will ensure everything is ready for you.

The Zero Labor Home initiative is yet another instance of technology simplifying our lives, which, based on your perspective, could be either fantastic or alarming. Tech firms, especially those involved in generative AI, are promoting the idea that we should assign all tedious tasks to machines, like composing an email or reaching out to customer service. However, in encouraging a frictionless existence, we tend to spend increased time on our devices and lose touch with what it is to be human; to occasionally feel irked by the need to vacuum, but take pleasure in the satisfaction of having a spotless floor.
