Banff Centre Announces Upcoming Visual Arts Residencies
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is proud to announce its upcoming visual arts residency programs designed to engage artists in immersive creative processes. Nestled in the picturesque mountain setting of Banff, these residencies offer participants the opportunity to develop their practice under the mentorship of experienced contemporary faculty in well-equipped studios.
**Visual Arts Thematic – On Other Archives**
This thematic residency invites artists to explore the concept of archives as tools for redefining and reconstructing cultural narratives. Participants will delve into institutional, personal, fictional, and speculative archives, considering themes like familial lineage, cultural inheritance, and oral histories. Artists will be guided by renowned faculty members Deanna Bowen and Krista Belle Stewart, along with curator Tarah Hogue.

**Visual Arts Thematic – Future Figurations**
Focusing on speculative futures and myth-making, this residency encourages artists to imagine and create new possibilities for selfhood and world-building. Led by artist-faculty Rajni Perera and Marigold Santos, participants will explore concepts of embodied futurity and the decolonization of the body from Eurocentric norms to foster agency and self-reclamation.
